How TG Cerber handles access to Telegram

For the check and for Continuous Protection TG Cerber needs a separate Telegram session. Below: what happens to your data, what stays on the device, and what you control.

Access architecture

Two different sessions for two different jobs

The one-off check session and the standing protection session live by different rules.

Temporary

Free Security Check

During the check TG Cerber briefly creates a separate session, reads the security parameters and closes it in the normal way. The login code and the cloud password are held in memory only and are not stored. The Risk Score is produced during the check and is not kept on the server.

Standing

Continuous Protection

The protection session runs on our server. That is why it watches the account around the clock, whether or not your phone is on. You see it in Telegram → Settings → Devices as “TG Cerber” and can terminate it at any moment — protection then stops.

Data protection

How check data is protected

The temporary check database is encrypted with a one-time key. Your Telegram cloud password never leaves your device. It is used only for cryptographic confirmation at sign-in and is never sent to our servers in any form. Your Vault key never leaves your device. The backup is encrypted with the public half of the key, and only you can decrypt it: we hold no key that could.

What Continuous Protection needs

For Continuous Protection the app has to be activated, the subscription has to be active, and 24 hours have to have passed since activation.

Does TG Cerber read my messages?
Message content is not used by the current check and is not stored.
Are the login code and cloud password stored?
No. They are held in memory only, during the login itself.
Where does the Continuous Protection session run?
The protection session runs on our server. That is why it watches the account around the clock, whether or not your phone is on. You see it in Telegram → Settings → Devices as “TG Cerber” and can terminate it at any moment — protection then stops.
How do I switch access off?
Revoke the session in Telegram → Settings → Devices, or turn protection off in the app. Once you do, Continuous Protection stops working until you connect it again.
How do I delete my data?
Send a request through support. The current processing time is up to 30 days.
